Komala Curry House - Delights for Vegetarians & Meat Lovers
Hawaii Diner Staff & The Ozawa Family
March 2006

Lata Kumar is behind the counter of this eatery which has been here for almost 11 years, making it the senior member of the Remington College restaurant ohana. The food here is excellent and this is one of the few places in town where they really do mean spicy when they label a dish 'spicy.' Another great thing about Komala Curry House is the good selection of vegetarian choices offered every day. It is easy to go in here and make a complete vegetarian meal. I particularly enjoyed the Mung Bean Salad which isn't always available; if you see it, you should order it. The sprouts are crunchy and the fresh tomatoes, red onions and tangy vinaigrette dressing make this a delight to eat. Building owner, Jim Steiner, claims to enjoy all of their spicy foods but when pressed to pick one he went with the Shrimp Marsala.

The Mung Bean Salad is so good - crisp, flavorful and with a light tangy dressing

The choices vary from day to day but you will always find great vegetarian choices in addition to those with meat or fish

Plate for the day included a lamb curry with savory rice and a vegetarian dish of potato, peas and cauliflower - it was all very good
